What to expect

So, what exactly happens?

You probably arrived here because you're at some kind of inflection point.

Grow.Sell.Step back.Make more money.Work less.Transfer the business.Simplify things.

Or maybe you just have a feeling something needs to change, but you're not exactly sure what. It's all okay, and perfectly normal.

This is where Waypoint starts.

The experience is fundamentally the same for everyone. The outcome isn't.

What people want from their businesses can be wildly different. Every business is at a different point. And while the paths forward may look similar on the surface, they're incredibly personal.

Once you can see your path clearly, some changes may be easy. Some may be hard. Some you may decide aren't worth making at all. That's 100% okay: we don't judge.

Waypoint's job isn't to tell you what to do. Our job is to create clarity around what you want, show you how prepared your business is to deliver it, and assign value to both action and inaction.

Then you decide.

So, in the spirit of preparing you for what's next…

Here we go.

Start

Click Start. You'll spend about 10 minutes completing a simple form and scheduling your 60–90 minute Waypoint Discovery Conversation.

Nothing complicated yet.

Tell us what you actually want

We'll meet on Zoom for a 60–90 minute conversation. It will feel free-flowing, but there is a deliberate framework behind it. We're trying to understand one thing:

What do you actually want from this business?

Not what you think you're supposed to want. Not what worked five years ago. Not just what sounds good on paper.

There are plenty of possibilities. Growth. Income. Freedom. Legacy. Liquidity. Simplicity. But they only matter if they matter to you, now.

We play it back

Waypoint processes the conversation and creates a simple summary of what we heard. We organize it into your priorities across six dimensions (we never ask for them directly):

Growth. Income. Freedom. Legacy. Liquidity. Simplicity.

Then we give it back to you. Before we measure your business, we want to make sure we're measuring it against the right destination.

You confirm: Yes. That's what I want.

Only then do we move forward.

The doors open

Once we've agreed on the destination, additional sections of Waypoint unlock. Now we need to understand the business that's supposed to get you there. You'll provide three primary inputs.

Your Team

Upload a simple team roster: name, email, start date, direct manager, department or function. Include trusted advisors who work as an extension of your team, like your CPA or EOS implementer.

Your Financials

36 months (3 years) of income statements and balance sheets. Monthly is best. Quarterly is good. Annual works too, it just provides less detail. Plus 36 months of invoice header data: invoice number, issue date, customer name, dollar amount, paid date.

Your Communication

We'll help you think through a simple message to your team explaining what's happening and why. We understand how sensitive this can be. Explaining why is 100% optional, but we strongly encourage it. If you opt in, the first question we ask your team will be:

“Why do you think ownership is doing this?”

It's an incredibly simple yet powerful way to see whether what you think you're communicating is actually what your organization is hearing. And it stops rumors.

Your team gets a voice

Next, we run the Waypoint Alignment Assessment. Your team receives between 5 and 35 questions designed to understand how the organization sees the business.

This is not an employee satisfaction survey. It is not a performance evaluation. And it isn't necessarily for every employee: we generally want participation from the people who meaningfully interact with customers, vendors, operations, or leadership, or who make decisions that move the business. You can include more people if you believe their perspective adds value.

Waypoint runs the Index

Once the assessment reaches approximately 95% completion, we run the Waypoint Index. We combine what you want, what the financials say, and what your organization sees.

The result is your Waypoint Readiness Score and the underlying themes affecting your ability to get where you said you want to go.

Within approximately 24 hours, a Waypoint Advisor reviews the results before anything is presented to you.

You see the path

We schedule another Zoom conversation and walk through your results: your Readiness Score and the 12 themes that emerged from the Index.

Some may confirm what you already believed. Some may surprise you. Some may expose opportunities. And some may show that changing something simply isn't worth the effort, cost, or disruption. That's the point.

Because while the details can be almost unlimited, most decisions eventually become surprisingly simple: change something, or don't. Both have a value. Both have a cost. Both have consequences.

We don't judge the decision. We give you enough clarity to make it deliberately.

One last double-check

Before you click Start, understand what you're signing up for.

Waypoint may confirm you're exactly where you should be.

It may show you that the destination you've been chasing isn't actually what you want.

It may identify things you should change.

And it may identify things you could change but decide aren't worth changing.

All of those are successful outcomes. Because the objective isn't change. The objective is clarity.

Know what you want. Know where you stand. Know what your choices are. Then decide what's next.
